Galeazzo III Maria Sforza, Duke of Milan 1466-1476
Fr-688, PCGS-graded MS-62
A gorgeous example of this rare issue, with a classic Renaissance portrait.
The 5th duke of Milan was famous for being especially lustful, cruel and tyrannical, although ironically he was a patron of musicians. He quickly gained many enemies, especially for raping the wives and daughters of Milanese nobles. He was assassinated by 33 conspirators on the day after Christmas 1476 in church.
